NICHOLAS D'AMBROSIA - PRESIDENT, N & D SPORTS

With 40 years of practical experience in the Special Event Merchandise field, Nicholas D’Ambrosia, along with his brother David, has continued to make their company; N & D Sports grow and prosper. N & D Sports is a three division company, Arena and Stadium Merchandising, Special Event Merchandise and Promotional Products. Each division complements each other.

In 1975 while a student at Southern Connecticut State University, Nicholas and his company was awarded the merchandise rights for the Boston Celtics at the Hartford Civic Center which was The Celtics home away from home. By the next season, in addition to a renewal with The Celtics, N & D Sports was awarded the merchandise concession contract for all events at The Hartford Civic Center. N & D began to provide the vending for concerts, family shows and sporting events. Nick was also responsible for supplying product to The New England Whalers, a World Hockey Association team.

At this time, many of the events booked did not have a product line and Nicholas constantly strived to provide the entire product line or a partial product line to complement the show’s existing product. This was especially true for many of the family and holiday shows. Nicholas provided novelty and light up products for events such as, Rodeos, The Moscow Circus, Harlem Globetrotters and concerts. This increased the revenue for the Arena and the event. Nicholas and his company continue to operate the merchandise sales at The XL Center, Hartford, CT, The Webster Bank Arena, Bridgeport, CT, The Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, CT, The Mullins Center at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA, Yale Bowl, New Haven, CT and Rentschler Field, East Hartford, CT.

Additionally, Nicholas owns and operates the merchandise concession rights to thirty High School, College and Masters Crew Regatta events, including The Head Of The Charles Regatta in Cambridge, MA. Nicholas has secured and maintaines the novelty merchandise contract at The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, as well as, the souvenir merchandise rights for numerous family shows and festivals. Nicholas has secured agreements with numerous college teams to handle their event merchandise at the team and alumni hotels and pep rallies at major football Bowl Games.

Complementing the Arena and Special Event business, Nicholas heads up its company’s Promotional Product division. Nicholas maintains relationships with numerous corporations to provide customer and employee premium and incentive products. His clients include Benjamin Moore Paints, The Connecticut Whale AHL Club and The Wireless Zone. Nicholas is a member of New England Promotional Products Association and an active member of AllPro Paint and Sundry national buying group. Nicholas is an active member of his hometown North Haven Rotary and will assume its presidency in 2014.

Nicholas still maintains a burning desire to grow his business and to thrive on its reputation in his industry.
